to do是动词的不定式形式，doing是现在分词或动名词形式。
to do可用来表目的（I am here to learn maths.）、原因(I am happy to see you.)、结果(I came home last night， only to find my key lost.)，也有一些固定搭配只能用to do(want to do想要做……)。
doing可用来表伴随(My father is sitting in the garden， reading a novel.)和进行(falling leaves)，也有一些固定搭配只能用doing（look forward to doing）。
为什么有todo和doing之分
帮助某人做某事是help sb (to) do sth， to 可以省略.需要注意的是help之后的动词一定要用原形.
一般系动词be（am is are）后加动词ing（也就是doing，或者说是动词的现在分词），祈使句的时候，动词要变成名词，后面要加ing。动词做宾语时，也要加。有时候还有一些固定的词组
比如，go swimming go shopping hlep doing（这个好像也是固定搭配）
to do 和 doing经常也会根据句子的时态变换而变换，比如当动词做了主语时，动词加ing。
